iPhone 7 will reportedly feature Lightning headphones without noise-canceling feature
The future of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the oft-rumored “iPhone 7” is hazy, and now an analyst has stepped in to drive another nail in the coffin.
According to an analyst report from Barclays, analysts Christopher Hemmelgam and Blayne Curtis detail their expectations for the iPhone 7, and what it will be, and won’t be, equipped with. First and foremost, the report states that Apple will indeed opt to feature Lightning headphones right in the box, and, effectively, be ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Apple has also been rumored to be building truly wireless earbuds, or EarPods, that would also include noise-canceling technology, but those would be a separate product not sold in the box with an iPhone 7 (or iPhone 7s).
